Congregational Meeting

The members of Christ the King Presbyterian Church are called to a Congregational Meeting on Sunday, November 22, 2020 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, preceded by a prayer meeting that will start at 6:30p. This meeting will be held virtually.

Business to be conducted at the meeting:

  1. Elect a pastoral search committee* for the purpose of recommending a pastoral candidate for Cambridge

  2. Elect church officers – the slate of candidates to be elected will be shared upon approval by the Session

  3. Share information with the church

Instructions for how to participate in the virtual meeting will be forthcoming.

Congregational Meeting (10/18)

The members of Christ the King Presbyterian Church are called to two upcoming Congregational Meetings.

The first is on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at 7:00 PM and will be held virtually. Business to be conducted at the October meeting:
1. Consider the resignation of Rev. Rick Downs as Pastor of Christ the King Presbyterian Church
2. Approve a process for forming a pastoral search committee*
3. Hear more information and ask questions related to placing an interim pastor in Cambridge and the search for a permanent replacement

The second is on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at 7:00 PM and will be held virtually. Business to be conducted at the November meeting:
1. Elect a pastoral search committee* for the purpose of recommending a pastoral candidate for Cambridge
2. Elect church officers – the slate of candidates to be elected will be shared upon approval by the Session

Babysitter Needed

CTK family in Watertown is looking for a babysitter for their 3 girls, ages 6, 4, and 1 on weekends, and/or someone who could help with an occasional week night when one parent travels. Their home is within a 5-min. walk of 2 bus lines, and about a 10-min. ride from Harvard Square. If you are interested or have recommendations, please contact Nicole O'Hern (816-820-3940).

Care Dimensions Volunteers

Care Dimensions is looking for volunteers to help support our hospice patients and families. Come be a part of something truly extraordinary and help us in our mission to make each day a gift for our patients and their families. Housing Needed

A twenty-three year-old male student from Chile is urgently looking for a place to stay from September 1st, 2018, preferably with a kind family in Boston who would be willing to open their home and their hearts to him. He has been here since May this year, studying on a full tuition scholarship at Berklee College of Music. His current living arrangements expire now at the end of August. If you can think of anyone who may may be able to help Brian, please contact Vera Benson (617.543.9301).

CTK Newton Nursery Staff

Nursery Staff/Caregiver Positions Available at Christ the King (Newton): There are several compensated staff/caregiver positions at CTK Newton for the nursery (0-3 year olds), Sundays from 3:45-5:45pm. Love Reigns Preschool

Love Reigns Children's Center in Arlington has a few 4-year old part-time Preschool openings in their mixed Preschool Classroom.  If you are interested or would like more information, please email the Directors, Alisha and Christina, at LoveReignsCC@gmail.com.  CTK member Elizabeth Cantrell is happy to recommend Love Reigns and can answer any specific questions. A few of the schedules they have available are 3-days (MWF) or 5-days (M-F) from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm or 8:00 am - 3:00 pm.

Family Housing Needed

A family of five with three small children are looking for housing starting as soon as possible. They are moving to Boston to begin teaching at Sattler College, and are hoping to find an apartment that is de-leaded, approx. $2000/month, and has in-unit laundry capabilities. They are open to renting short term or living in a house with another family or couple. They are hoping to find something in the Malden or Medford area near transit. ACCESS After School Programs

ACCESS (American Chinese Christian Educational and Social Services, Inc.) provides after-school and summer programming for children of immigrant, low-income families in Boston's Chinatown. They are now recruiting teachers for our After School Enrichment Program. If you are interested in either working or volunteering with them this school year, please contact Ji-Sun Ham, Director of Children and Families at ACCESS.

HCC Postpartum Support Group

Registration extended thru August 5 - Harbor Christian Counseling's short-term weekly support group for women experiencing symptoms of postpartum depression and other difficulties with adjustment to motherhood will instead meet on Wednesday evenings (for six consecutive weeks) beginning July 25 at the Cambridge YMCA. The postpartum mothers group will be facilitated by one of HCC's clinical interns who has previously led similar groups at the Boston Center for Pregnancy Choices.
