Looking for Roommates

Rachel Price is a grad student at MIT who’s been a member at CTK for a little over 4 years now. She’s looking for two new (preferably female) roommates for an apartment in East Cambridge starting Sept 1. The rooms are roughly $900/month for the smaller room and $1000/month for the larger room. The apartment is on the smaller side, but was recently renovated with a new kitchen and is only a 10-15 minute walk from Kendall Square/MIT. If you’re interested, please contact her at rprice@MIT.edu with any questions.

Adult Ed

The current Adult Ed class, for those not attending Discovering CTK, is After the Fall: Understanding and Overcoming Sin. In his years as a pastor, chaplain, and theologian, 17th-century Puritan John Owen had ample time to reflect on the nature of sin and temptation - and the struggle against them to which every Christian is called. In this class we’ll walk through some of his best beloved works on the topic. We’ll explore questions like What is sin? What are its effects? What is the difference between sin and temptation? How are sin and temptation overcome? How do we understand - and benefit from - Jesus' victory over sin and temptation in his own life, death, and resurrection? Come join the discussion!

BU Housing

Joel Mertens, an elder in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Natchitoches, Louisiana, is looking for housing for his daughter, who is about to graduate from the University of North Texas with a Harp Performance degree.  She is planning to attend Boston University this fall to pursue her masters degree in Harp Performance and would like to find a place to live in Cambridgeport or Allston.  If you have any information, please contact Joel via email or at 318-214-8037.

Housing Needed

Tom Pinotti and his wife and two daughters (friends of CTK alums, the McFaddens) are seeking a short term rental in the general area surrounding Brookline/Back Bay during June while one of his daughters has a surgical procedure at Boston Children’s. The surgery is currently scheduled for Wed, June 12 at BCH and they anticipate being in Boston for 3-4 weeks (June 9-July 1).  With this extended stay, we’d prefer to being in a stand-alone home/condo/apt vs hotel or shared housing (ie Ronald McDonald house). If you have any information, please email Tom.

The RUF staff at Harvard, BU, and MIT will be running a Summer RUF for all college students who are in the Boston area for the summer from June 2 through August 9.  They will meet on Tuesdays for a time of worship from 7-8pm, followed by a time to hang out.  This event is for college students only (grad students should see what bible studies are at their grad schools).  For more information, contact Serena Jones (serena.jones@ruf.org).

Looking for Work

Tess Stogner is a soon-to-be UNC grad looking for work in the Boston area. The majority of her coursework has been writing-intensive, so she’s interested in anything related to PR, communications, networking, publicity and publishing. She has experience working in the outdoor industry, in retail and in education, and is involved with two non-profit organizations on campus. If you know of any opportunities, please contact Tess.

Kids' Bulletins

Parents:  As we strive to be more intentional helping kids transition from Children’s Worship classes to being in the entire service, on May 12 the sermon worksheet will receive a makeover tailored to 3rd - 5th Graders. The new worksheet will be available up front at the passing of the peace.  Note, extra copies or borrow bags will not be in the foyer at the start of the service (though once Children’s Worship ends mid-June alternate materials will be available for those kids to use during the preaching in the summer months).
