Congregational Meeting

The members of Christ the King Presbyterian Church are called to a Congregational Meeting on Sunday, November 22, 2020 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, preceded by a prayer meeting that will start at 6:30p. This meeting will be held virtually.

Business to be conducted at the meeting:

  1. Elect a pastoral search committee* for the purpose of recommending a pastoral candidate for Cambridge

  2. Elect church officers – the slate of candidates to be elected will be shared upon approval by the Session

  3. Share information with the church

Instructions for how to participate in the virtual meeting will be forthcoming.

Congregational Meeting (10/18)

The members of Christ the King Presbyterian Church are called to two upcoming Congregational Meetings.

The first is on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at 7:00 PM and will be held virtually. Business to be conducted at the October meeting:
1. Consider the resignation of Rev. Rick Downs as Pastor of Christ the King Presbyterian Church
2. Approve a process for forming a pastoral search committee*
3. Hear more information and ask questions related to placing an interim pastor in Cambridge and the search for a permanent replacement

The second is on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at 7:00 PM and will be held virtually. Business to be conducted at the November meeting:
1. Elect a pastoral search committee* for the purpose of recommending a pastoral candidate for Cambridge
2. Elect church officers – the slate of candidates to be elected will be shared upon approval by the Session

CTK Snow Team

The CTK Snow Team is an elite crew of volunteers who receive emails about opportunities to serve our city by shoveling or snowblowing the sidewalks in front of the church (while also drinking hot chocolate). No prior experience required -- just a willingness to receive emails and help out as your schedule permits. If this sounds exciting to you, and you think you should be receiving these emails, please contact deacons@ctkcambridge.org. We would love to have you join us.

Leadership Training

Theology for the Church and City: CTK offers a course intended to foster our growth as disciples of Christ and witnesses to the gospel in our city.  The training is required for officer nominees but is open to all, and strongly encouraged for anyone who is serving or would like to serve in any position of leadership in the church (e.g. community group, women’s ministry, etc.). The course will meet at the church office, approximately every four weeks on Saturday afternoons over the course of 2016, beginning on January 9. CTK Lost and Found

In order to better serve the Cambridge congregations, CTK has started a new Lost and Found process. From now on, any items that are lost and found will be placed in a bin located below the stairwell in the basement. After one month, those items will be moved to a bin located in the deacon's closet. The next month the deacon's closet bin will be cleared and donated to Goodwill. Therefore, for any items lost in the church, please contact a deacon in order to look through the bins and reclaim your item. For any given item, there will be a 1 to 2 month period to reclaim what was lost. For any other questions or clarifications please reach out to the Church Office. 

CTK Reading Group

The CTK Reading Group at The Field Pub is reading Charles Taylor’s A Secular Age, a book that James K.A. Smith called “monumental… a book that offers a genealogy of the secular and an archaeology of our angst” in a pluralistic world, where believers and unbelievers alike experience doubt.  If you are interested in joining the discussion, please contact Nathan.  The group meets at 4pm on Wednesdays.

Making Room at Thanksgiving

Making Room at Thanksgiving: In an effort to ensure that no one at CTK-Cambridge is without a place to go this Thanksgiving, we are looking for people who have room at their tables. Also, if you are someone who is currently without a place to share the meal, we would be happy to connect you with someone who would love for you to join them. Workshop by Boston Fellows

On Saturday, October 17, John Seel (senior fellow at Cardus and director of cultural engagement at the John Templeton Foundation) and Emily Gum (Managing Director of New City Commons) will present a Workshop on Christ and Culture entitled “Personal and Corporate Formation in the Context of Contemporary Culture.”  The workshop will be held from 10am-3pm in the CTK Cambridge social hall.  This public event is being sponsored by Boston Fellows.  For more information, contact Nathan. The event is free, but to reserve your spot please RSVP here by October 17.

Tech Vocational Group

Christ the King hopes you will come out to our first-ever meetup for tech professionals on Thursday, September 17th at 7:00pm. We'll be discussing Technology & Addiction, and aim not only to learn more about why technology is so powerful in our lives, but come up with practical strategies for creating and using it responsibly. The event will also feature plenty of time to connect with Christians in the tech field and to contribute to a discussion of future topics. It will be held at Christ the King's Cambridge location: 99 Prospect St., Cambridge, MA 02139.  To RSVP or for questions, contact Nathan. 

Boston Fellows

Boston Fellows is a nine-month fellowship for young professionals at CTK to cultivate the worldview, in prayer and in the community of the local church, necessary for meaningful vocation, in a cohort of peers, spiritual leaders, and professional mentors. The Fellowship kicks off September 11-13 with the first of three outdoor retreats hosted by Gordon College’s La Vida Center for Outdoor Education.  Space is still available; if you have questions or to apply, contact nathan@ctkcambridge.org or see www.BostonFellows.com.
