There will be No Second Saturdays at Meadhall Saturday, August 8. We are taking a brief hiatus for the month of August and will resume events in September.
We use the term gospel frequently in our church, but what is the gospel? Gospel Dynamics is a four-week adult ed class starting August 9 at 8:45 am in the Social Hall. In the class, we’ll seek to rediscover the heart of the gospel and understand how the gospel informs and shapes every aspect of our lives, individually and corporately. Please join us for CTK's Summer Picnics at Sennott Park (near the corner of Prospect St and Broadway) following the Sunday services on August 2, 9, 16 and 23. Bring your own lunch, picnic blanket, frisbees/footballs and we’ll bring dessert. All are welcome!
Andrew Stuntz and Emily DeBaun will be starting a community group in Teele Square (West Somerville) on Wednesdays at 7pm beginning in September. If you are interested in attending please contact Andy.
CTK's college ministry is meeting Tuesdays at 7pm this summer. All college students are welcome! We are going through the book of Judges together. Contact our RUF pastors if you're interested or have questions.
This fall Christ the King will facilitate a Faith & Finances learning community. We are looking for participants and allies, who will learn together how to overcome obstacles, get free from debt, and save for the future. Allies will attend a training session in late August, and the community will meet for twelve weeks beginning just after Labor Day. Contact Michael Poor or Sarah Stuntz with questions or to sign up by August 1.
CTK Cambridge is planning to start offering ESL classes on Monday evenings for internationals in our community. This will be a cooperative ministry between our two congregations. We are looking for volunteers to participate - if you have previous ESL experience or simply like making friends, we encourage you to get involved! There will be a volunteer orientation on Monday evening, August 31st. Look for more details to follow and contact Hannah for more information.
English Service Announcements
If you are interested in Discovering CTK (our class for those interested in membership or in learning more about our church and denomination (PCA)) on Sundays September 13-October 18 during Adult Education hour, please let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org!
Parents please note there will be NO Children's Church classes August 2 and September 6 (the first Sundays of the month) in preparation for these classes launching as "Children's Worship" in the fall (more details to follow). Children 4 to 7 years will remain in the service on these Sundays.
On September 13th, Children’s Church will be renamed Children’s Worship and will launch a new curriculum about worship to connect the teaching in these classes with the service. If you were unable to attend the June 14th meeting, you may read about the changes: Meeting, Curriculum and Story of Worship. Also, this Sunday, August 2 during Adult Ed (8:45am) we will review the materials again and allow time for questions. All are encouraged to attend.
Portuguese Service Announcements
There will be a Women's Seminar in Portuguese on September 4 and 5 on "Praying the Promises of God". The speaker will be Rev. Arival Dias Casimiro from the Presbyterian Church of Pinheiros, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Translation arrangements can be made and all are invited to attend. Quincy Presbyterian Church is hosting a family retreat from July 31 to August 2 at a comfortable campsite in Carver, MA. The camp features comfortable facilities and meals will also be provided. The Portuguese Women's Ministry is taking a brief hiatus for the month of August and will start meeting again in the Fall on Saturday, September 15th at 4:00 pm in the social hall. Every second Saturday of the month, there is a women's prayer meeting in Portuguese from 8am to 9am at Maria Sampaio's home. Each woman attending is given the special requests of one family over the course of the semester. For more information, please contact Maria Sampaio.

Sandy Draper, a graduate from The University of Alabama, is seeking a housing situation for September 2015 to May 2016. Sandy has been accepted into graduate school at Boston Conservatory and hopes to attend Christ the King while pursuing a Masters Degree in Vocal Pedagogy.
