Mercy and Local Outreach

'As for you... do not grow weary in doing good.' - 2 Thessalonians 3:13

In witness to the immeasurable riches of God's grace towards us in Christ Jesus, Christ the King seeks to reach out in word and deed for the peace and welfare of the city. To this end we partner with a number of ministries to the poor in the greater Boston area.

Some of our ministry partners:

Starlight Ministries, a ministry out of the Emmanuel Gospel Center to the homeless in Boston and Cambridge. Email Nathan Barczi for more information about volunteer opportunities.

Boston Rescue Mission: Please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at (617) 338-9000 ext. 1230 to volunteer with meals, mentoring, and participating in worship or Bible studies.

East End House: a community center in East Cambridge, seeks volunteers who can make a commitment, weekly or monthly, to support the success of Cambridge youth. Volunteers can work on literacy activities, assist with homework help, serve as a mentor, or lead STEM projects with children of all ages. For more information on volunteering at East End House, contact Catharine Downs or call 617-876-4444.

Starlight Birthday Ministry:  CTK partners with Starlight and Birthday Wishes to bring birthday parties to children in homeless families housed in local hotels.  Volunteers assist in putting together birthday boxes containing everything needed for a child’s birthday party, and celebrate the child’s birthday with them.  For more information on volunteering, contact Stella DeCosta.

Tutoring Plus is looking for volunteer tutors for the 2014-2015 academic year.  Volunteers provide free tutoring to Cambridge high school and middle school students, for one hour per week, on a variety of academic subjects.  Tutoring Plus matches students to tutors based on academic strengths and needs, and provides training and support for tutors.  For questions, see Tutoring Plus’ FAQ page or contact Nathan Barczi.
